let me correct myself odd time signatures, mood changes, and tempo changes? already existed in classical music. even before jazz and jazz fusion started.

Was i “acting like acting like metal started odd time sigs, mood changes and tempo changes”?? those did not come from fusion. they come from jazz. fusion blends jazz and funk and rock which means, jazz was there first. *gasp* why are you even telling me this stuff?

Exactly what statement of mine are you talking about? Sean Malone mastered everything within? a week? how are you so sure about that? is that even virtually possible? telling me names of people that i know and things that i already know aren’t helping either…

Now part two, acting like metal started odd time sigs, mood changes and tempo changes? Uh thats actually from….. *gasp* fusion! Michael Brecker and other outlandish jazz players were doing all that? back in the day. As were major prog bands like Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Alan Parsons and many more. Believe me, people who are fans of fusion have heard everything you listed there as ‘characteristics of metal that are foreign to other genres’. I love metal as much of the next guy but geez man.

I’m not sure what you’re arguing about, but Cynic pretty much sums up everything this guy is trying to say. Sean Malone, a jazz fusion bass player and teacher? at Berkley joined Cynic and within a week mastered everything and gigged around liked it was nothing. Pretty much every ‘sub genre’ (ha) metal musician looks up to fusion players. Lars K. Nordberg considers Gary Willis one of his biggest influences. Tony Choy of Athiest and Pestilence fame plays in Latin Jazz Fusions bands.

what about the asymmetrical timing shit you were mentioning earlier? if you knew you were right you would have? stood up to what you said but what do you resort to? calling me a fag. you sound a little desperate to get the higher hand in this argument don’t you think? you pretentious fag. lol what kind of fucked-up family raised such a dumbass like you? a 5 year-old has better logical thinking than you.

hahaha lol asymmetrical timing and odd time signatures are the same but since asymmetrical timing sounds more like? something only pretentious fags would use, almost nobody uses it. are you crying?

First of all “MORON BOY” it’s not called: odd time signatures…it’s refered to as, asymmetrical timing and as far as tech. patterns go, you wouldn’t know a technical pattern if it bit you on your little PP. So with that, SCREW OFF and get a? life like I told you before!!!!!!!!!

about the bands i mentioned, there’s no way in hell you’ll be able to appreciate them on the first listen. obviously, you’re not used to hearing technical patterns, odd time signatures, mood changes etc. you have to train your ears to understand the complexity of their music. it’s gonna take time. so don’t be an idiot and try to even? understand the music before you judge it.

haha. wow, just how stupid and full of shit you are is beyond words. you’ve played ALL? sub genres in metal? sounds a little impossible to achieve in a lifetime doesn’t it? from that first sentence alone, it is apparent that you don’t know shit about metal and anything related to it. most metal players are too lazy to learn other styles? again that shows your ignorance. ever heard of chris broderick? tosin abasi? paul masvidal? i can go on…

I’ve played metal and all of it’s “SUB SO CALLED GENRES” LOL. What u? sent me still sounds garage band! LMFAO!!! Most metal players are too lazy to get educated on guitar which is why they will never progress any farther than where they are.

obviously you lack knowledge in the metal genre.? you should know that there are lots of subgenres and some incorporate multiple styles to make a certain sound. now, try listening to cynic (focus album), atheist, spawn of possession (noctambulant), exivious, and death (human). see if those bands change your opinion about metal.
