    I read an interview with OP and he said that his influences were more from Art Tatum and Teddy Wilson…even though he played bebop. His complaint about Bud Powell, even though he studied BP’s harmonic structure, was that BP did’nt use the whole piano…..If you study pianists thru the 1950’s you’ll see that most were into single note lines like horn players. Oscar played all those but also played more pianistically(using more of the piano) I also believe this is where Bill Evans came from.
