I am a guitarist, and I’m exploring the world of jazz.
Do you know any jazz sub-genres that its songs have as leading instrument the guitar(electric, jazz or acoustic)? I have listened to a few songs with lead guitar and piano or strings as backing instruments, but it was on the radio and i can’t find any others. So, What is this music genre? What should i look for?

Bebop…and if you want to consider it in with Jazz..I do..Fusion. One guy that was incredible to me was Tal Farlow…..he kind of Bebopped with the Red Norvo trio better than anyone….also earlier Pat Martino..his version of “Sonny” and in fusion I’m a big Mahavishnu Orchestra fan (John McLaughlin on guitar)…stuff like Brian Setzer does could be considered jazz sub genre..with a good dose of rockabilly.George Benson. Him and Martino are known as the “Philly sound” of jazz. Well, Keep those fingers a’jumpin’! I’ve been playin’ for years…it’s great ain’t it?
