If you want something classic go for some artists like Nat King Cole, or Ella Fitzgerald. If you want something more modern go for Erykah Badu, she is GREAT! Or even something like Michael Buble’, Cat Power or Cat Empie. Good luck :)

I took the suggestion of Answerer Denise LaFrance and created a Playlist titled “Love Songs for Romantic Evenings” with more than 100 selections at http://view.playlist.com/13382746123

The jazz artists below are a pretty good selection. Here are twenty romantic songs that might set the mood:

Allan Jones – FALLING IN LOVE WITH LOVE (Richard Rodgers (m) & Lorenz Hart (w), 1921, from the movie musical “The Boys from Syracuse,” 1940)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOUQfQw2f4g

Dick Powell & Ruby Keeler – I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU (Dames, 1934)

Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire – A FINE ROMANCE (Swing Time, 1936) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TKb7JrhJpk

Chester Gaylord (1931) – WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE A WALK? (Harry Warren (m), Mort Dixon & Billy Rose (w), 1930) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiF54LhRUjQ

    The Hi-Lo’s (1959) – LOVE WALKED IN {George Gershwin (m, 1930) & Ira Gershwin (w, 1937) for the movie musical “The Goldwyn Follies” (1938)} http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1BLHBnU0VQ

Diana Krall – EAST OF THE SUN (West of the Moon) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjAwp5x-NYw

The jazz doesn’t have to be smooth.
If she’s a jazz aficionado, she’ll dig the classic jazz giants.

Here–see if you can open this jazz player of mine.
There’s tons of great classic jazz songs on there.
(The songs closer to the bottom of my music player are more romantic such as Coletrane’s “Stardust”,songs by Sonny Rollins, Duke Ellington,Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Guao Gilberto, Astrid Gilberto (his wife), Nina Simone, Johnny Mathis, Errol Garner..etc…sorry a few of the songs are not working on there but lots do and you can always look at the titles of the songs and create your own jazz music box)

Just open that, save it on your desktop of the pc…press play, dim those lights and get your groove on. Hope you dig it.

Your vast selection of classic jazz–smooth, romantic or not will greatly impress her.For God’s sake…DON’T inflict that Kenny G. on –well, basically==> anyone.

I didn’t know too much about jazz when I met my husband, but Gato’s song Europa changed all of that.
He also played Grover Washington, Will Downing, Eric Benet, Paul Hardcastle & Chris Botti.
