Hodge Silk Oboe Swab - Blue

  • Pure Silk
  • Absorbent
  • No Lint
  • Compressible
Hodge Silk Swabs are premium swabs made from pure silk for removing moisture from woodwind instruments after each use. Hodge uses silk because it is absorbent, has no lint, and is compressible. The swabs are large enough to wick the moisture out of the larger part of the bore, but compressible enough to pull through the neck. They pull through the fully assembled instrument. They do not leave lint in the keys. They are not stored inside the instrument so the moisture does not remain. Hodge swabs are regularly recommended by repairmen for optimum care of your instrument. The oboe swabs clean the entire instrument fully assembled. They have a safety cord on the back end, so that if there were a knot in one and it got stuck, it could be pulled

Sadly, this get’s 3 stars because it was stiff for my daughter to properly set and lock the legs each time which put her flute at risk of tipping over. She is 11 and knew how to do it, however the device just did not set up easily for her, or break down. Sadly, it broke within a month of my daughter using it. It got a leg stepped on by a student in class who was passing by. I am sure it was not meant to take that abuse but I doubt it was a full on smashing so it is a bit disappointing that it broke!

just what he needed for that old refurbished clarinet his dad bought so many decades ago.
Works perfectly, folds up very compactly. WAY the heck better than what he was trying to make with a toilet plunger cut off short (a NEW one, of course. Anyone need a plunger with a sharpened, 6″ long handle?)
One small note – wherever it was made or packaged must also make tires or something, because the packaging was in decent shape but smelled strongly of some kind of chemicals.

Biggest problem is that it has no weight on the end to help get it through oboe. Would not buy again.

Works well. Long enough to pull through the entire oboe without having to take it apart (saves a minute every time).
